Disaster

Last night the Olympic Games 2012 held its closing ceremony in London. You may be thinking that’s the end of it, no not at all.  For many nations the games were complete success and for others it was massive disaster, since they didn’t manage to win any medals. The total numbers of nations represented at the Olympic Games were 205 out of which only 79 nations won medals, which mean 126 nations didn’t win anything. These nations will be examining what went wrong and how to avoid the repeat of the same disaster at the next Olympic Games 2016.

Failures and disasters are nothing new for human-being, but what matters is how we react to it and recover from them. There are many records in the Bible where Gods people had to face of disasters and how they overcame and recovered from them. In His design for the world, God allows many events to run their course according to “time and chance”. King Solomon writes, “…. The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favour to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all. Moreover, no man knows when his hour will come: As fish are caught in a cruel net or birds are taken in a snare, so men are trapped by evil times that fall unexpectedly upon them.” Ecclesiastes 9:11-12

All the nations who didn’t win at Olympic Games 2012, will be assessing what went wrong and putting into action plans to change the way they train and build new training facilities and equipment so that their nation will stand the best chance to win. We too have to find ways of winning against Satan who is always looking for a way to defeat us.
