Future

The UK Olympic games are about to end and the competitors who have won the medals are all talking about the future. Some are saying these are the last competitive games for them and others are looking forward to competing in the next Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016 where they hope to win. The competitors who are going to continue competing have another four years of hard training, but those that are retiring have to change their life style to fit new demands of the future. Before the next games, all the winning athletes will have to put the past successes behind them and take part in the qualifying games once again. The qualifying athletes from these will be allowed to progress to next stage.

Someone who had to put his past behind him was St Paul who was called Saul before he became Christian.  “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 3:13-14 and But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Philippians 3:7.

We also have a future in heaven, “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ,   Philippians 3:20   Jesus promised to come back to take us back to our heavenly home.“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. Matthew 24:42-44

Just like the athletes who have to go into strict training before they can wear the winners  medal around  their necks, so we have to keep our self in readiness for the day when Jesus returns to give us the crown of life.

All of our presenters are going to be covering the subject throughout the day
