There is a Quote which says, “Certainly one of the highest duties of the citizen is a scrupulous obedience to the laws of the nation. But it is not the highest duty.” Thomas Jefferson. Its true that our highest duty of obedience is to our maker.
St. Paul tells us that Jesus was completely obedient to God’s will. “And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death–even death on a cross! Philippians 2:8 . Before Jesus was crucified, he told is disciples. “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” John 14:21 also Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.” John 14:23-24
One way to show our love for God is to obey his commands written in his word.
