Evidence

All around the world, we often hear stories of court cases, where justice hasn’t been done. In most nations there is procedure to appeal against miscarriage of justice. Most of the time injustice is carried out because of evidence which is available during the trial. In some cases the witnesses give false evidence against the accused, which ultimately leading to wrongful conviction.

When we examine The Trial of Jesus Christ we discover that he too was falsely accused of many things. “And they that had taken Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together. Matthew 26:57 and the next morning, “They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders and the teachers of the law came together.” Mark 14:53  after another consultation by the priests, “Very early in the morning, the chief priests, with the elders, the teachers of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, made their plans. So they bound Jesus, led him away and handed him over to Pilate. Mark 15:1

During that trail, Jesus was mocked and beaten. Throughout the trail many false witnesses testified against Jesus. “The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any.  Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree. Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him:  ‘We heard him say, “I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another, not made with hands.” Yet even then their testimony did not agree. Mark 14:55-59. Even though Jesus was falsely accused and condemn to death, he didn’t appeal against that judgement. “But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, ” When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. Matthew 27:12. Jesus suffered for us, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2

Jesus kept his mouth closed because he was suffering for our sins.
