Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day

The long build up to Easter is called Lent. It’s the last day before Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday, 40 days before Easter. Another name for Shrove Tuesday is Pancake Day. ‘Shrove’ means being forgiven for wrong-doings. Therefore Lent is a time of abstinence, penitence, as we contemplate the reasons why Jesus had to sacrifice his life for our sakes. Continue reading

Repentance and forgiveness

 Asking for forgiveness when we know we should is not a simple matter of uttering a few words. It is a way to show that we accept our mistake and have learned from them, because none of us is perfect or sinless in Gods sight. Therefore, before we could ask for forgiveness, we should know the reasons why we are asking for it.
