When we think of holiness we think about God, because holiness is a part of God’s character. We may not be able to be as holy as God but we can try to be as holy as a man can be. What do we need to do to be holy?
Do we need to get up early and bath ourselves and then bow down in worship to God. Will that make us holy? Or should we do seva in some way, or visit a holy place? Should we dress a particular way? Will that make us holy? Do we need to stop eating certain foods? Or live in a jungle, become a free spirit with no home? Does that turn you into a holy person? Will reading the scriptures or listening to all the preachers in the world make you holy? Being nice and kind towards others and doing good, is that what it takes to be holy? All these things may help us to live good lives but they won’t make us holy. Holiness needs to start in our spirit before it can affect our physical being.

To achieve holiness we need to have the holy one in our lives, because only He can make us truly holy by forgiving our sin and making us complete in Him. Then it’s up to us to safe guard what He has given us.

St. Luke –records in the book of Acts, how the followers of Jesus witnessed that amazing event.  It is believed that during the 40 days following his resurrection, the Lord Jesus appeared to many of his disciples and told them that He would always be with them and promised them the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Ascension Day also marks the last appearance of Lord Jesus Christ to his followers after His resurrection at Easter. It is believed that on the 40th day Lord Jesus took his disciples to the Mount of Olives, where he blessed them and they all watched him ascended to heaven.

You can read the biblical record for yourself, “In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. …  On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. … But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”   

When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. … and a cloud hid him from their sight. Acts 1:1- 9 & Luke 24:50-52

Happy Ascension Day, Our Lord Jesus is ascended to Heaven.

They will soar on the wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
